Brock Purdy on What Nick Saban Told Him When He Visited Alabama
The hype surrounding San Francisco 49ers quarterback, Brock Purdy, has been massive since he was drafted to the league in early 2022. Despite being the subject of several jokes throughout the 2022 NFL season, "Mr. Irrelevant" has proved that he and his teammates are serious contenders in the league.
Before San Francisco's big divisional playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys, Purdy spoke about the time he visited Alabama back when he was in high school.
According to Purdy, head coach Nick Saban did not think he was fit to lead the team and stated “You’re below average in height, your arm strength is whatever, and your accuracy is average.”
The alleged statement from Saban has sparked some controversy online, as many have referred back to another tweet that shows where Alabama offered Purdy a full ride scholarship back in 2018, leading many to believe that Purdy's words about Saban aren't exactly true.
Purdy instead went Iowa State, where in his final season, he threw for 3,188 yards and 19 touchdowns. He was drafted as the very last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft and has since helped lead the 49ers to an NFC Championship appearance where he will play against notable former Alabama players Jalen Hurts and DeVonta Smith. The 49ers will take on the Eagles on Jan. 29, 2023.
