A pair of Alabama defenders aren't done hauling in accolades after big-time performances against the Tennessee Volunteers in Alabama's 37-20 win last Saturday. Yhonzae Pierre and Zabien Brown both won SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, with Pierre totaling six tackles and 2.5 sacks (including a safety) in the Tide's win over the Vols.

Cornerback Zabien Brown also split the award with Pierre, leading Alabama in tackles (7) and taking a goal-line interception 98 yards for a pick-six as the first half expired. It was Brown's second career touchdown with the Crimson Tide.

Both players continue to earn honors, this time, at the national level. Zabien Brown has been named the Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week.

According to a release from the Football Writers Association of America, if a player who earns the Nagurski Weekly honor is not already on the Nagurski Award Watch List during the season, that player will be added once they win the weekly honor. Zabien Brown is now on the Nagurski Award Watch List.

According to the release, Brown had the top game of his career, totaling 57 coverage snaps, seven tackles, and the notable pick-six before halftime. The 98-yard pick-six is the second-longest return for a touchdown in Alabama history, and was the Tide's first pick-six since Chris Braswell's 28-yard pick-six in Alabama's 40-17 win over Mississippi State in 2023.

In addition to Brown, Yhonzae Pierre was named the Chuck Bednarik Player of the Week.

Pierre was thrust into the starting lineup after playing in the Tide's rotation alongside Qua Russaw and Jah-Marien Latham. Latham suffered a season-ending injury during practice leading up to Alabama's 24-21 win over Georgia. Russaw sustained an injury during the Georgia game and is set to miss significant time.

Pierre now leads Alabama in sacks with four on the season, with 24 total tackles (4th on the team) and two forced fumbles (1st on the team).

Alabama will face South Carolina this Saturday in Williams-Brice Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT.
