In a key SEC West battle, Tua Tagovailoa threw for a career-high 387 yards with 4 touchdown passes and a rushing touchdown in a 45-23 Alabama over Texas A&M.
Around the state, Auburn rebounded from their loss to LSU, Troy followed up their win at Nebraska with a victory in Sun Belt play.
Auburn Easily Defeats Arkansas
Following an excruciating 22-21 loss to LSU on a last second field goal, the Auburn Tigers took care of the Arkansas Razorbacks 34-3 inside Jordan Hare Stadium.
Auburn's defense dominated holding Arkansas to one field goal and 290 yards of total offense.
The defense and special teams set up much of their scoring production for the game. After Arkansas' opening drive stalled at their own 40 yard line, Ryan Davis returned the first punt of the game 48 yards to the Arkansas 27. Seven plays later, JaTarvious Whitlow scored from five yards out to put the Tigers on the board.
After an Arkansas fumble, Andres Carlson knocked home an 18-yard field goal to extend the lead to 10-0 lead.
Late in the first half, Razorbacks punter Reid Bauer booted an eight-yard punt to give the Tigers prime real estate at Arkansas 20. Four plays later, quarterback Jarrett Stidham found the end zone on a four-yard scoring run to put the Tigers up 17-0 at halftime.
After Connor Limpert's 29-yard field goal for Arkansas, Noah Igbinoghene electrified the Jordan-Hare Stadium audience with a 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
Late in the fourth quarter, Davis set up Auburn's final field goal with a 36-yard punt return to the Arkansas 15.
For the game, the Auburn offense struggled to gain traction netting just 225 yards of total offense including 91 yards of total offense.
Troy Escapes at Louisiana-Monroe
After toppling the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Lincoln, the Troy Trojans extended their winning streak to three games with a 35-27 victory over Louisiana-Monroe in their Sun Belt Conference opener.
After surrendering the first score of the game, the Trojans ran off 35 unanswered points including 28 in the second quarter.
Troy signal caller Kaleb Barker recorded four touchdowns in the first half including two scores on the ground and through the air.
ULM made the game interesting in the second half outscoring Troy 20-0 in the second half and had a chance to tie late in the fourth quarter when Troy cornerback Marcus Jones picked off ULM quarterback Caleb Evan in the end zone to seal the win.
For the game, Barker finished the game with 323 total yards and four total touchdowns.
Troy returns home Saturday for their Sun Belt home opener against Coastal Carolina.
