The Southeastern Conference’s pride as a conference will be on the line this weekend in many rivalry games across the region. Showdowns in the SEC between the likes of Alabama and Auburn and Mississippi State and Ole Miss will be intertwined with state championship games. Regardless of where the game is being played or who the game is against, here are the top 5 games in the SEC this week.

1. (12) South Carolina at (11) Clemson
Steve Spurrier is known as an offensive genius but it is his defense that is responsible for much of the Gamecocks success this season. It will be important for Jadeveon Clowney and the front four of South Carolina to put pressure on Tajh Boyd to disrupt the 9th ranked Tigers passing attack.

2. (4) Florida at (10) Florida State
The state championship will be on the line this weekend in Tallahassee as Nick Saban disciples Will Muschamp and Jimbo Fisher will square off in their annual meeting. On paper it looks like the Seminoles have a better team, but don't be fooled by their weak schedule. If the Florida Gators can find some resemblance of an offense in this game, Will Muschamp's team will be in good shape.

3. Mississippi State at Ole Miss
Mississippi State may have eight wins on the season, but they have not looked impressive at all. Meanwhile Ole Miss has played the top tier teams on their schedule extremely close, moments away from capturing a signature win. Saturday in Oxford I have a feeling Hugh Freeze just might get that win and a bowl birth.

4. Georgia Tech at (3) Georgia
Those hoping for some BCS chaos will be watching this game intently in hope Paul Johnson can trip up the Georgia Bulldogs. However, Mark Richt wisely scheduled the triple-option attack of Georgia Southern last week, giving his team a similar look of what they will face this weekend.

5. Auburn at (2) Alabama
Every rivalry game, it is always said “throw out the records,” however this may be a game where that statement rings true just a little more than most. Alabama has everything on the line in this game (SEC and BCS hopes), while the Auburn Tigers would like nothing more than to crush those dreams.
