UPDATE 05/03 - Eli Ricks was pulled over by Mississippi Highway Patrol on Sunday evening at approximately 4:20 P.M. while traveling on Interstate 59 in Jones County. Ricks was cited for going 91 mph in 70 mph zone in his 2018 Mercedes Benz, which was also uninsured. A statement from either coach Saban or the University regarding any possible punishment is still pending.


 

One of the new additions to the Crimson Tide by way of the transfer portal, Eli Ricks, a former LSU defensive back, was arrested on Sunday evening in Mississippi and charged with speeding, no insurance and possession of marijuana (first offense).

The former five-star recruit joined the Tide this off-season after spending his first two years with the Tigers in Baton Rouge. As a freshman, Ricks was one of the nation's top defensive backs, compiling 20 tackles, five pass deflections and four interceptions, two of which he returned for a touchdown.

What this means for Ricks' future with the Crimson Tide is undetermined, as a statement from the team has yet to be released. The story will be updated as information is revealed.
