Dallas Turner Earns All-American Honors
Alabama linebacker Dallas Turner has been named to the 247Sports True Freshman All-American Team. He was one of 22 players recognized and the lone SEC representative on the defensive side. Turner has registered 25 total tackles, 5.5 sacks and one fumble recovery through 13 games this season.
“Every day he comes to practice, he works hard,” said Will Anderson last month. “He watches film all the time. He asks questions, he wants to learn. Football is the most important thing to him. I’m so proud of him. He’s stepping up, taking a big role when we have people down. That’s all I can say. He loves football and he’s hungry.”
Turner, a five-star recruit was rated as the No. 1 weakside defensive end and No. 9 overall player in the 2021 recruiting cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. With injuries to Chris Allen and Drew Sanders early in the season, Turner was thrust into the starting lineup and has continued to get better every week.
The Florida native had his coming out party against LSU on Nov. 6. He finished the night with five tackles, two tackles for loss and two sacks, earning 247Sports True Freshman of the Week honors. Turner has registered six tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks in Alabama's last five games.
“He’s done a really nice job for us, as a freshman,” said Nick Saban. “He’s gained a lot of confidence, a lot of experience. He doesn’t make a lot of errors in the game. He’s a smart guy. He prepares the right way."
Turner is third Alabama player to be named to the 247Sports True Freshman All-American Team in the last two seasons, joining Will Anderson and Malachi Moore.
