Former Alabama running back Derrick Henry looked the part of his old self on Sunday.

The 2015 Heisman Trophy winner and veteran Tennessee Titan played his best statistical game of the young NFL season on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Henry posted 20 rushing attempts for 85 yards and a touchdown on the day in the Titans’ 24-22 victory. However, that wasn’t the only way the still-versatile back hurt the Raiders.

He also had five receptions for 58 yards. Sunday’s game was the first in which he appeared in the receiving stats category since the start of the season.

The Titans have struggled so far in the 2022 season. The defending champions of the AFC South are 1-2 and Henry was largely ineffective in last Monday’s game against the Buffalo Bills, despite scoring the team’s only touchdown.

Through three games, Henry’s rushing numbers amount to 192 yards and two scores. He’s had 54 carries. He averaged 4.3 yards per carry on Sunday, a season-high.

Tennessee will hope to see a lot more from its star running back, a former 2,000-yard rusher, after injuries derailed his 2021 campaign. He played up until the eighth week, was sidelined with a fracture in his foot, and then appeared in the Divisional Round loss against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Henry has played in the NFL since 2016. This season is his seventh in the pros and with the Titans.
