This past weekend exemplified everything that's great about the NCAA Tournament. Where else can a team that received Division I postseason eligibility just one year ago capture the attention of college basketball fans across the nation? That's exactly what Florida Gulf Coast University accomplished in just three short days in The City of Brotherly Love.

This team from Fort Myers, Florida, never once looked like the underdog playing against perennial power and two-seed Georgetown. They grabbed the lead from the jump and never backed down, creating a highlight reel full of dunks and alley oops on the way 78-68 victory.

The story never changed on Sunday. The Eagles played even with San Diego State until the final 10 minutes when they looked like the experienced program, pulling away from the 7-seeded Aztecs. With those two wins, Florida Gulf Coast became the first 15-seed to advance to the round of 16 since the tournament began seeding teams in 1979.

Just five years ago, the school applied for NCAA Division I status and became a full member in 2011. They recently began floating the idea of creating a football program, and with the boom of interest they'll be receiving from this tournament, it might be time to capitalize on the opportunity.
