Former Alabama Golfer Justin Thomas Shoots 59 in Hawaii
You won't find a hotter player in golf right now than former Alabama star Justin Thomas. The 23-year-old followed up a win at the Tournament of Champions with a first-round 59 on Thursday at the Sony Open.
Thomas began the day by chipping in for an eagle and would finish it the same way to finish 11-under with the outright lead. He need to make this 15-foot putt on the 18th hole to reach the coveted number.
Thomas has top-10 finishes in four of his past five starts, which includes wins in Malaysia and last week in Hawaii. The world's No. 12 golfer currently has a five-stroke lead over the rest of the field and has a great chance to go back-to-back on the PGA Tour.
