Thomas has three more events after the Travelers Championship concludes before the British Open gets underway on July 14 at the famed St. Andrews Old Course in Scotland.
Not even the COVID-19 pandemic could derail one of sports' most reliable and consistent trends: Brooks Koepka contending in one of golf's major championships.
Justin Thomas shot five under in the final round on Sunday at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational to win the event and propel himself back to the number one ranking in the world. The victory is marks the second win in a row for former Crimson Tide golfer on the PGA Tour after Michael Thompson won the 3M Open last week in Memphis.
Former Crimson Tide golfer Bud Cauley is choosing to withdraw from this weekend's Travelers Championship due to one of his playing partners testing positive for COVID-19. Cauley has tested negative on two separate occasions but is opting to withdraw from the tournament out of respect to the rest of the field.
"I'm very thankful I have tested negative but have decided to withdraw out of an abundance of caution for my peers and everyone involved with the tournament," said Cauley.
