Things have been bleak for fans of the blue team in the Meadowlands ever since the departure of future NFL Hall of Fame coach Tom Coughlin in 2015. The New York Giants have gone a combined 42-71-1 under five head coaches in the time that has passed. Finally, they have a winner at the helm again.

Brian Daboll was named the NFL's Coach of the Year at the NFL Honors Thursday after his first season as an NFL head coach. Daboll led the Giants to a 9-7-1 record and their first playoff victory since their 2011 Super Bowl run over a decade ago.

Daboll previously spent the previous three seasons as the offensive coordinator of the Buffalo Bills and played an instrumental role in the development of perennially great quarterback Josh Allen.

The Giants are not Daboll's first stop in the Meadowlands. From 2007-2008, Daboll served as the Jets' quarterback coach.

In addition to helping Daniel Jones and Josh Allen establish themselves as legitimate NFL starting quarterbacks after rocky starts to their careers, Daboll had a hand in the development of one of this season's two Super Bowl quarterbacks, Jalen Hurts. Daboll was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Alabama in 2017, Hurts' second season as a starter, and coached the Tide all the way to a historic national championship victory in overtime over Georgia.
