Gordo vs. Northridge Moved to Friday Night
One of the most anticipated West Alabama high school football matchups of the week has been moved. The Gordo Greenwave (5-0, 3-0) was scheduled to host the Northridge Jaguars (5-0, 3-0) on Thursday at Pickens County High School. The kickoff has been moved to Friday Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. at Pickens County High School.
The Greenwave is playing all its home games at Pickens County High School this season due to stadium construction and has held all its home matchups on Thursday nights this year.
The game is being moved to Friday due to heavy rains and high winds expected for Thursday into Friday morning.
The state of Alabama can expect 2-3 inches of rain on Thursday evening.
Pickens County is scheduled to play Aliceville at Aliceville this weekend, which left the stadium open and available for the Greenwave and Jaguars to adjust the game to Friday night.
Gordo is currently ranked No. 2 in Alabama's Class 4A and is led by highly touted quarterback Tanner Bailey. The Greenwave moved up from Class 3A and so far has not had any issues, Gordo has won its first three region games in the new classification by an average of 33 points per game.
Northridge, despite being undefeated, is not ranked in the Alabama Class 6A rankings yet. A win against the Greenwave would make a strong statement across the state. The Jaguars rely on a heavy running game and strong defense to control the games. The Jaguars defense has only given up 8 points per game to this point this season.
Tide100.9 FM will have extensive coverage of the game on air, social media and with a game story at the completion of the contest.
