Here’s What Nick Saban Said About His 2017 Alabama Signing Class
There were 26 reasons for Nick Saban to be in a good mood Wednesday afternoon as National Signing Day came to a close. That's the number of players Alabama signed in its 2017 class, which once again claimed the No. 1 spot in college football.
On paper, this class is as good as any Saban has signed in his 11 signing days, and he was very happy with the way it came together.
"We're obviously very excited about the 14 players who signed with us today to join the 12 players who are already early enrolled here," Saban said. "I think this class is a class that we're very pleased with and proud of. This day is accumulation of a lot of hard work by a lot of people."
Out of the 26 players signed on Wednesday, eight were considered five-star prospects on at least one of the major recruiting services, but there's one position Saban felt they fell short.
"In this class, we sort of hit every spot but one. We wanted to recruit at least one corner, maybe two. It just worked out that it didn't happen that way for us."
