Jalen Milroe Following Poor Performance In Saturday’s 24-3 Defeat Against Oklahoma
Following Alabama's dismal 24-3 loss to Oklahoma on Saturday, Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe stayed behind and spoke with the media about his team's performance that night.
Milroe had an off night in the Crimson Tide's 21-point defeat Saturday night, which saw the Alabama offense not score a single touchdown, with the two-year starter throwing for 164 yards while completing 11 out of his 26 pass attempts. Milroe threw three interceptions, with two resulting in touchdowns for the Sooners, with one interception being returned for a 49-yard touchdown by Sooners defensive back Kip Lewis, which put the Sooners up 24-3 with 8:05 remaining.
Alabama's junior quarterback credited Oklahoma's defense with playing an excellent game and having control over Milroe the entire game, holding the Tide's leading rusher to 7 yards on 15 carries. Milroe stated that Oklahoma's defense played "physical" with the unranked Oklahoma Sooners holding Alabama to 234 total yards while only allowing 70 rushing yards.
When asked what the squad needed to do to regroup and finish the season strong with a win at home versus Auburn, Milroe replied, "One of our core values is to finish, despite anything whether there are challenges or hardships. No matter what it is it's all about finishing." When asked if he believes he is responsible for demonstrating the 1-0 attitude, Alabama's experienced quarterback responded, "It's all about stepping up as a leader."
Alabama will fall to 8-3 on the season, with postseason chances likely out the window. The Crimson Tide will seek to rally and regroup next week as they look to win their fifth consecutive Iron Bowl, hosting the 5-6 Auburn Tigers on Saturday, November 30th, 2024.
