Keilan Robinson Allegedly Sold His 2020 Alabama Championship Rings

Former Alabama and current Texas Longhorns running back Keilan Robinson has found himself in the news this week. Robinson first hit the news cycles for making a bold statement in a Twitter Space concerning the upcoming matchup between the Crimson Tide and Longhorns in Week 2.

The speedy tailback stayed in the news after @CFBNerds started a Twitter thread uncovering and dissecting the fact his 2020 championship rings are for sale. Robinson's rings can purchased for $60,000 through the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop, a business made popular by History channel's show "Pawn Stars".

Robinson did not sell the rings to Rick Harrison personally, but it is clear that the seller "Jon" was in possession of the running back's rings from the epic 2020 Alabama football season based on Robinson's signature on the interior of the rings and his number etched on the side.

The Alabama Crimson Tide went undefeated in 2020 as it navigated the COVID-19 pandemic. DeVonta Smith won the Heisman Trophy as the team dominated an all-SEC schedule, beat-down Notre Dame in an altered Rose Bowl and destroyed Ohio State in the national championship game.

Robinson, however, was not active during the 2020 season with the Tide as he chose to opt-out of the season. Upon the conclusion of the season the Washington D.C.-native transferred to Texas.

College Football Nerds notes in its Twitter thread that Robinson may have committed an NCAA violation by selling his championship merchandise.

Rule 16.1.4 states that awards for participation may not be sold, exchanged or assigned for another item of value.

The NCAA has been a toothless organization for quite some time so it remains to be seen if Robinson will face punishment for this decision. The seller on the TV show, "Jon" agreed to sell the rings for $40,0000 to the pawn shop, likely indicating that Robinson sold the collection for less.
