Kirby Smart Breaks Down Ryan Grubb’s Offense
Alabama will face its toughest test on Saturday, with the Crimson Tide set to take on the Georgia Bulldogs. The game, set for kickoff at 6:30 p.m. CT in Sanford Stadium in Athens, Georgia, presents a unique challenge for both teams, with Georgia's bread and butter being Kirby Smart and Glenn Schumann's defense, and Alabama's being Kalen DeBoer and Ryan Grubb's offense.

During Wednesday's coaches call with the SEC, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart talked about Alabama's offensive scheme and what Grubb and DeBoer do well on that side of the football.
"They're very efficient," Smart said on Wednesday. "They're playing at a high level. He's gotten really comfortable with Ty [Simpson] at quarterback, and timing of throws, the vision, and awareness of coverage, the ability to run the ball, and set up shots off of play action, package plays.
"They do a good job of setting up plays in terms of what they carry for that game, compliments. The formations, they're not predictable in what they do, and they balance it up with a good bit of tempo, and make you defend the whole field vertically and horizontally. They do a good job."
Alabama has already played in one rain game this season, with the Crimson Tide falling to Florida State 31-17 in a sloppy season-opening game. The forecast for Saturday calls for a chance of rain before the game, which could make the field conditions sloppy on Saturday. How do field conditions affect evaluating an opposing team?
"It's relative to how they play," Smart said. "Sometimes in those conditions, you don't get to play the exact style that you want to play. We've all coached and seen games where it was either raining during the game or the conditions were not great. Sometimes you don't get to be who you want to be in those conditions; you just have to go play the game, especially if the conditions change during the game. I think those conditions in that game had some effect on the game, because you don't get to play like you want to play. Sometimes you have to play the game differently when the weather's like that."
Alabama will face Georgia in Athens, Georgia at 6:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, September 27.
