In the past few weeks, Kira Lewis has begun rising up draft boards, most recently appearing at the 15th overall pick in the latest NBA mock draft from Bleacher Report.  Seeing Lewis come off the board here would be incredible, but should be no shock to Crimson Tide basketball fans who watched Kira run the floor for Alabama the last two years.

Lewis, who was the focal point of the Tide's offense in his time in Tuscaloosa, averaged 15.9 points, 4 assists, and 1.3 steals a game in two seasons.  The change in offensive pace from Avery Johnson to Nate Oates last year opened the door for Kira Lewis to showcase his best traits, including his speed and three point shooting ability.  In 2019, under Nate Oates, Lewis shot 36% from 3, making him a lethal threat from anywhere on the court, whether he is pushing into the paint with his speed or pulling back from three.

Currently, the Orlando Magic hold the 15th overall pick in this years draft, which was postponed to October due to COVID-19.  At point guard, the Magic have a veteran DJ Augustin, and a young, former number one overall pick, Markelle Fultz. Augustin, who is 33 this year, has been nothing special for the Magic, averaging about 10 points and 5 assists per game, and whether or not Markelle Fultz will be a long term solution at the position has yet to be seen.

Securing Lewis with the fifteenth overall pick would be a great addition to the Magic, who have a lot of uncertainty at the point guard position.  While Lewis may not have the traits or ability to be an instant star, he would be an excellent developmental prospect to learn for his first few seasons.  Lewis' speed of play would mesh well with the NBA, and he will provide solid minutes for any team he goes to.
