Louisville Head Coach Alleges Crimson Tide Tampering

Scott Satterfield, head coach of the Louisville Cardinals, joined 247Sports for an interview recently in which the coach opened up on the wave of alleged tampering within college football.

Satterfield was asked about the transfer of his former speedy wideout, Tyler Harrell, to the University of Alabama, and whether or not he subscribed to the notion that tampering had occurred.

Satterfield responded, saying, "“I think it’s not only him, it’s happened before here. Last year we had a few guys that jumped into the portal and the next day they’re announcing where they’re going. You can look at that and know that something went on before they were in the portal.”

The Crimson Tide were reported by several outlets to be in the mix for Harrell before the wideout even entered his name in the transfer portal. Once he had officially announced his intention to transfer, Harrell selected Alabama just ten days later.

The wave of tampering allegations began to heat up this week as reports swarmed of the 2021 Biletnikoff winner, Jordan Addison, mulling a seven-figure deal that would take him away from the east coast and across the country to join Lincoln Riley and become a Trojan. While Addison did enter the transfer portal officially this week, an announcement of where he will play next season has yet to come.

While lucrative NIL opportunities are something that have clearly been used this year as recruiting tools for many schools, the notion of poaching a player from another roster with the promise of bigger NIL deals is something that has yet to be seen.

As of now, no further details have emerged regarding Harrell's transfer to the Crimson Tide, but could Alabama be no better than USC?
