It appears the honeymoon may be over in Louisiana. Promising sophomore linebacker, Marcel Brooks, announced his entrance into the transfer portal today. The former 5-star recruit accounted for eight tackles and 1.5 sacks last season for LSU, appearing in 11 games as a freshman.

If Brooks decides to move on to another school this could be a huge loss for the Tigers.  LSU was expecting a breakout season for Brooks, but now that season may be with another program.  If Brooks does decide to transfer, he will need to sit out a year unless he petitions the NCAA for a waiver.

Alabama fans may remember Marcel Brooks after a video of him following Alabama's home loss to LSU last season went viral in which he ran to the seating section filled with visiting recruits and told them to reconsider their choice and come to LSU.

Seems like Marcel Brooks should have been reconsidering his decision all along, but we'll see if he actually decides to transfer. Brooks can still withdraw his name from the transfer portal if he wishes to remain a Tiger.

It is unclear the reason for him looking at his possible transfer options, but it's hard to imagine that it is anything other than a concern for lack of playing time.  Brooks was a very highly touted prospect coming out of Texas, and most likely expected to see more than a backup role his freshman season.  As of now, there is no updates as to what teams have been in contact with Brooks, but many teams will be interested in a player with his talent level.
