Michigan Stars Opt Out of Bowl Game Vs. Alabama
The Michigan Wolverines will be down key contributors when the Wolverines travel to Tampa, Florida to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Reliaquest Bowl on December 31.
The Wolverines' second-leading rusher, Donovan Edwards, announced to reporters that he would be opting out of the Reliaquest Bowl against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Edwards totaled 589 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 128 carries this season for the Wolverines. He also added 83 yards and one touchdown receiving for Michigan this season.
In addition to Edwards, Michigan will be down two potential first-round picks in defensive tackle Mason Graham and cornerback Will Johnson. Tight end Coleston Loveland also opted out of the bowl game according to Fox Sports.
For Alabama, the Crimson Tide is expected to have several top options play in the bowl game, with quarterback Jalen Milroe, offensive lineman Tyler Booker, and linebacker Jihaad Campbell announcing to reporters they would play against Michigan on December 31.
Alabama will face off against Michigan in the Reliaquest Bowl, a rematch of last year's Rose Bowl, on December 31. Kickoff is set for 11:00 a.m. CT.
