Montana Fouts Signs NLI With Alabama Softball
Alabama softball added another key component to its fall signing class with the addition Montana Fouts, a 6-1 pitcher from Grayson, Ky.
“Montana has incredible potential as a dominant pitcher for us,” UA head coach Patrick Murphy said. “She has the size, speed and movement and led her team to a PGF championship this summer. She will continue the tradition of great pitching at Alabama.”
Fouts is the third-ranked pitcher and is No. 7 among the entire 2018 class in the latest FloSoftball “Hot 100” rankings. A dominant right-hander at East Carter High School, she is a two-time Gatorade State Player of the Year and has earned All-American nods in each of the last three seasons from USA Today, Max Preps and FloSoftball.
As a freshman, she set a state record with a 0.16 ERA and broke another state record with 14 no-hitters the next season, including nine perfect games. Last year she threw 448 strikeouts over 213.2 innings pitched, an average of 2.10 per inning. She was equally dominant in the batter’s box, hitting 67-121 (.554) last year including 12 home runs and 66 RBIs.
On the club circuit this past summer, Fouts and the Beverly Bandits took first place at both PGF Nationals and Triple Crown/USA Nationals. This upcoming season, she will play with the Louisville Sluggers.
Fouts joins Skylar Wallace among the Tide’s signees so far this week. The fall signing period lasts through Nov. 15, with signees set to join the team for the 2019 season.
