Nate Oats “We Have Plenty to Work On”
Alabama Men's Basketball fell to the Purdue Boilermakers 87-78 to suffer the Crimson Tide's first loss of the 2024-2025 basketball season. All is not lost, as there are still over 20 games left in the season for Alabama basketball, and that was a big point for Crimson Tide head coach Nate Oats following the loss.
"We schedule these games for a reason," Oats said. "We like to go against the best teams in the country and figure out what we've got to work on. We've got plenty to work on after this game."
It isn't just the players that need to step up their performance. Oats called out the coaching staff, including himself for the poor performance.
"Kaufman-Renn, obviously, wasn't the primary post-up guy playing behind [Zach] Edey basically his whole career," Oats said. "I didn't know he was that good. He kind of killed us in there. It wasn't just Cliff, everybody that guarded him."
"Coaching staff has got to do a better job prepping for post-ups like that, we've got to do better jobs getting our shooters open...You have to give them a lot of credit though. Those guards are good, super skilled," Oats said.
Alabama will return to the heart of Dixie on Wednesday, November 20, to take on the Illinois Fighting Illini in the CM Netwon Classic at 8:00 p.m. CT. The game will be played in Birmingham, Alabama.
