As Alabama football moves into its second full week of spring practice, there will be occasions where linebacker Keith Holcombe won't be with the team. The sophomore is playing baseball and football this semester and there is some overlap between the two.

Head football coach Nick Saban was asked about his two-sport athlete following Monday's practice, and he voiced some concern about the challenge of balancing both.

"It makes it more difficult for him to balance what he needs to do in football, and he has a chance to be a great contributor on the football team," Saban said.

Saban specifically pointed out that he isn't used to players missing so much school because his team plays on Saturdays.

"I get concerned about a guy playing two sports when he's got to miss four days of school."

"It takes a little getting used to for me for guys that do that."

But he said Holcombe has a chance to help the defense in 2016 and the coaching staff will work with him to make up an reps he misses to help him get to where he needs to be.

"Keith's a bright guy. He's a smart guy, a good student so it shouldn't have that big an effect on him."
