Roman Tubner Joins Alabama Women’s Basketball Coaching Staff

Tubner has a great recruiting background and brings over a decade of coaching experience to the Crimson Tide. In 2019, he was named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association 30 under 30 list, an award that recognizes 30 up-and-coming women's basketball coaches age 30 and under at all levels of the game.

Tubner formerly served as an assistant coach at Ball State where he helped guide the Cardinals to a 14-11 record during the 2020-21 season. Before joining the Ball State women's basketball program, Tubner spent a season at the University of North Carolina Wilmington where he recruited the 2021 All-Colonial Athletic Association Sixth Player of the year.

Tubner also spent seasons at Indiana State (2018-19), Austin Peay (2017-18), Arkansas Tech University (2014-17), and the University of Arkansas at Monticello (2011-14). Before entering the coaching ranks, he graduated from Centenary College of Louisiana where he was a two-year starter.

Tubner is joining an Alabama team that saw its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1999. The Crimson Tide finished the season with an overall record of 17-10 and 8-8 in the SEC. The Tide made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

This squad will look very different this upcoming season as they lose three key starters. Jasmine Walker was the seventh pick in the WNBA draft, Jordan Lewis transferred to Baylor, and Ariyah Copeland transferred to Arizona.

Hannah Barber and Megan Abrams are the two returning starters that look to lead this team for the 2021-22 season.

The Crimson Tide will start the season off on Nov. 4 against in-state foe, the University of Alabama at Huntsville.
