Ryan Grubb Learning About Alabama Rivalries

You'll have to cut Alabama offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb some slack; he's still learning which games are rivalries for the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Alabama faces several marquee opponents this season, including several against top-ranked opponents on the road. Alabama is undefeated in SEC play with wins over Georgia, Vanderbilt, and Missouri, but still has all three of its big rivalry games left on the schedule. The first comes this Saturday, when Alabama hosts Tennessee on the Third Saturday of October.

On Monday, Alabama offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb was asked what he knew about Alabama's rivalry games and, most notably, the one this Saturday against Tennessee.

"I’m still figuring all that out. I thought Georgia was a rivalry too, so I thought that was a big game," Grubb said. But I love that, in general, about the SEC, I think it’s awesome. I love lining up every week, playing tough, ranked teams. Our guys, our players are up for it. It’s one of the best parts about being at Alabama, honestly. Is you think about playing Tennessee at home and what that stadium’s going to be like and where our players are going to be at, it’s going to be a lot of fun."

Ryan Grubb introduced the Krispy Package against Georgia, which lines Kadyn Proctor up as a skill player in the Alabama offense. Since its introduction against Georgia, Proctor has had the ball in his hands in each of Alabama's last three games, picking up a first down in every game for the Crimson Tide. If Grubb thought Georgia was a rivalry game and pulled that package out for it, it makes you wonder what he has in the bag for Saturday's game against Tennessee.

No. 6 Alabama will return home next weekend to take on the No. 11 Tennessee Volunteers, who defeated Arkansas 34-31 on Saturday.
