SEC Picks for Oct. 28
Last week I went 4-1 thanks to an anemic Arkansas offense. My season total is now 14-2. I pick games straight up, not against the spread.
Here are this week's games and picks:
South Carolina (2-5, 1-4 SEC) at Texas A&M (4-3, 2-2 SEC) 11 a.m. CT • ESPN
These are two struggling teams and hot seat coaches in Shane Beamer and Jimbo Fisher. Jimbo's Aggies are at home, though, and that 12th man can decide games. It will decide this one. Aggies win over SC, 31-20.
Mississippi State (4-3, 1-3 SEC) at Auburn (3-4, 0-4 SEC) 2:30 p.m. CT • SEC Network
This is a game both teams need to remain in contention for a bowl bid. Auburn is home. State may not have Will Rogers behind center. Tigers take it, 21-17.
Florida (5-2, 3-1 SEC) vs. Georgia (7-0, 4-0 SEC) 2:30 p.m. CT •CBS
Florida played surprisingly well on offense at South Carolina last week. Georgia is not South Carolina, and Jacksonville is not Gainesville, where the Gators upset Tennessee. Dogs stay unbeaten, 38-17.
Tennessee (5-2, 2-2 SEC) at Kentucky (5-2, 2-2 SEC) 6 p.m. CT • ESPN Tennessee nation is butt-hurt over officiating after losing in Tuscaloosa. Lexington isn't as loud or as tough to play in, but someone is going to be bowl-eligible after Saturday night. Who gets that sixth win? I will likely regret this, but Tennessee bounces back behind the round coach of rebound, 31-24.
Vanderbilt (2-6, 0-4 SEC) at Ole Miss (6-1, 3-1 SEC) 6:30 p.m. CT • SEC Network
I was surprised to learn that Ole Miss only leads this series 53-40-2. That's Snotty Toddy embarrassing. Yet and still, it will be the Lane Train doing the embarrassing this week as the Rebs take it, 45-17.
Open Dates: Alabama (7-1, 5-0 SEC); Arkansas (2-6, 0-5 SEC); LSU (6-2, 4-1 SEC); Missouri (7-1, 3-1 SEC).
