Senator Katie Britt Meets with University of Alabama Reps to Discuss NIL
NIL is an ever-changing landscape that has turned the collegiate athletics world upside down, with reports of players earning multiple millions of dollars to transfer schools this offseason in the men's basketball transfer portal.
The University of Alabama has not been untouched by the recent changes to NIL. Three players are already in the transfer portal just two weeks after the Tide made the Elite Eight for the third time in program history, and football lost 3 starters and 21 total players to the winter transfer portal window.
Former Alabama head coach Nick Saban has been a major player in asking government officials to change the current landscape of NIL and college football, including traveling to Capitol Hill multiple times to speak in front of Congress.
The University of Alabama isn't stopping at just asking Nick Saban to speak; ambassadors from the University of Alabama were back in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday to speak with Alabama Senator Katie Britt.
Britt graduated from the University of Alabama in 2004 with a bachelor's, then graduated from Alabama's law school in 2013. She is married to former Alabama offensive lineman Wesley Britt, who was a three-time First-Team All-SEC selection from 2002-04.
The faces of Crimson Tide athletics were in Washington D.C., including University of Alabama president Stuart Bell, Alabama Director of Athletics Greg Byrne, Alabama football head coach Kalen DeBoer, and Alabama men's basketball player Houston Mallette.
