Stallions Osirus Mitchell signs with Green Bay Packers
USFL Champion and former Mississippi State Bulldog Osirus Mitchell has signed with the Green Bay Packers. Joining former teammates Victor Bolden and Doug Costin, he is the third former Stallion to sign with a NFL team this offseason. Mitchell will also team up with former New Orleans Breaker tight end Sal Cannella on the Packers.
Osirus Mitchell was a 3-star standout recruit from Booker High School in Sarasota, Florida. During his senior year, Mitchell averaged 21.7 yards per catch and snagged 25 touchdowns. Mitchell committed to Mississippi State over other programs such as Minnesota, Wake Forest, and Bowling Green.
After redshirting his freshman year, Mitchell recorded 107 receptions, 1,413 yards, and 14 touchdowns during his time in StarkVegas. Mitchell went undrafted in the 2021 NFL draft. The Dallas Cowboys scooped up Mitchell on May 14. He was then waived on August 31, and was promptly signed to the Cowboys practice squad the next day. He was ultimately cut from the practice squad on December 20. However, he remained persistent in pursuing his goals on a professional football career.
The Birmingham Stallions selected Mitchell with the 118th overall pick in the USFL draft. Mitchell helped lead the Stallions to a 9-1 record and a championship. Osirus Mitchell racked up 23 catches, 333 yards, and 3 touchdowns in 10 games in his singular season in The Magic City.
Matt LaFleur and the Green Bay Packers provide hope for Osirus Mitchell's dreams to have a long and prosperous NFL career.
