Former Alabama point guard and current New Orleans Pelican Kira Lewis is showing his character in his first offseason as a professional basketball player. Lewis had a big week giving back to both his parents and his alma mater.
Former Alabama point guard Kira Lewis was drafted No. 13 by the New Orleans Pelicans. Lewis becomes the highest drafted Alabama basketball player since Collin Sexton was selected eighth overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2018 draft.
The Alabama basketball team has had a roller coaster season filled with ups and downs. After finishing the year on a two-game losing streak four Crimson Tide players were honored by the SEC coaches and the Associated Press with awards.
Sophomore guard Kira Lewis was named to the All-SEC First team. Junior guard John Petty was named to the All-SEC Second team. Freshman guard Jaden Shackelford was named to the All-SEC Freshman team and junior wing player Herb Jones was chosen to the All-SEC Defensive team.
After the officially departure of head coach Avery Johnson announced on Sunday, the Alabama Crimson Tide basketball team could be without two players on the roster as well.
