The SEC has cancelled the rest of the SEC Basketball Tournament. The conference officials made the decision an hour before tip-off was scheduled to begin to cancel the tournament due to the danger of COVID-19 Coronavirus spreading.

Greg Sankey announced on the SEC Network between the two Thursday night SEC Tournament games, that beginning tomorrow fans would not be allowed into Bridgestone Arena to watch the SEC Tournament. The Big 10, Big 12 and the Pac-12 announced similar bans from their conference tournaments earlier today. Sankey also announced a ban on fan attendance at all SEC sporting events until at least March 30.

The Alabama men’s basketball team finished the regular season on a two-game losing streak, losing at home to Vanderbilt and on the road to Missouri. Alabama is locked into the ninth seed of next week’s SEC tournament and will play the eighth seeded Tennessee Vols in the second round on Thursday at noon. The winner of that matchup will have to play the top-seeded Kentucky Wildcats on Friday at noon. Alabama’s only path to making the NCAA Tournament at this point is win the SEC Tournament.
