While a score of 4-0 may not seem like a total dismantlement in college baseball, something about the Crimson Tide's victory over the University of South Alabama Jaguars did.

South Alabama went through more pitchers than there were innings in the game. 10 to be exact. Only four of them were able to avoid giving up a hit. Three of them gave up the Tide's combined four runs.

Sophomore right handed pitcher Luke Holman got the start on the mound for the Tide Tuesday in what was the final game before SEC play begins. Holman sent 87 pitches over the plate over the course of seven innings. He struck out nine batters while giving up just three hits and retired 23 of the batters he faced. When all was said and done, Holman got credit for the win.

Late in the game, freshman left Alton Davis, II came in for cleanup duty. The Hueytown High graduate retired all seven batters he faced and got one strikeout.

South Alabama put the bullpen to work Tuesday. Sophomore righty Mitchell Heer got the start and retired three batters on strikeouts with one walk. From there, the Jaguars employed Colson Lawrence, Tyler Smith, Grant Wood, Danny Diaz, Logan Wash, Seth Carter, Matthew DeLano, Sam Knowlton, and Zach Willingham.

Diaz, Wash, and Carter gave up the Tide's four runs. Diaz was credited with the loss and is now 1-1 on the year.

Freshman phenom Colby Shelton scored one of the Tide's four runs. Another came from Drew Williamson, another from Caden Rose, and another from Will Hodo. Hodo managed the drive in three RBIs, one of which coming on his two-run homer.

The Tide's next game will be in Gainesville against the Florida Gators to open up SEC play. First pitch is March 16 at 6 p.m.
