Tide Completes Impressive Transfer Portal, Losing no Players in the Spring Window
The spring transfer portal window officially closed on Friday night, and the Alabama Crimson Tide saw no additions to the portal from scholarship players. It is the first time since the transfer portal has been operational that the Crimson Tide did not lose a player.

It's a testament to the culture and the process that second-year Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer has built in Tuscaloosa. Defensive coordinator Kane Wommack discussed the Tide's lack of transfer portal additions earlier in the week on WNSP, stating that DeBoer has "done a great job" of being proactive in retaining the Tide's roster.
"Coach DeBoer has done such a great job of being proactive on the front end," Wommack told WNSP. "We've had numerous meetings with players and reached out to their families and representatives to try to make sure we're all on the same page and we're not surprised by anything. I think to this point, we're in a really good place."

The Crimson Tide's lack of entries is the polar opposite of the current trend in college football. Alabama is the only SEC team that did not lose a player in the transfer portal. It's significant that Alabama retained its starters, but it's arguably more important that Alabama maintained its valuable depth at several positions.
"People think you either got to go get yours, right? Or you can sacrifice for the team. The truth is, high tides raise all boats. For us, keeping that mindset for these players - of course, everybody wants our starters - but they want our twos and our threes, as well. I think Kalen has done a really tremendous job of managing that to getting these guys to buy into this team and how that helps them as individuals," Wommack told WNSP.
“I think we did a really good job of managing the roster, especially with kind of areas that we need to open up and make room for guys coming in, and just find that right mix of guys that are returning with newcomers that came on board,” Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer said April 17 in Mobile.
Alabama's roster is all but set, with the Tide making two additions to the portal, with West Virginia tight end Jack Samarcco and Troy tight end Brody Dalton.
