Things started slow in the first half. Seven minutes into the game, the score was just 7-5 and both teams were struggling to get a rhythm going on offense. Things finally opened up for Alabama a little more than ten minutes in when Mark Sears made two free throws and followed the shots with a three pointer.

Defensively, Alabama is already starting to get in foul trouble. Both Brandon Miller and Jahvon Quinerly have three fouls and Charles Bediako has two.

Mississippi State's offense came to life with the insertion of Keshawn Murphy. Despite playing the fewest first half minutes of any State player, he led the team in scoring with nine points after draining all three of his three point attempts.
