Two heavyweights made headlines on Saturday night and it had nothing to do with what happened in the ring at the Legacy Arena.

In the hours following Deontay Wilder's title defense against Gerald Washington, the WBC heavyweight champion was involved in an altercation at The Westin Birmingham, which is just down the street from the arena. Wilder and fellow heavyweight Dominic Breazeale got into some sort of scuffle and both parties have a completely different version of the story.

TMZ published a video from the incident but it's difficult to make out exactly what went down between the two men and members of their party.

Breazeale, who won an undercard fight prior to Wilder-Washington, described the incident in a post on social media.

Late Sunday, Wilder provided a statement on the night's events on his Instagram account.

We might not know exactly what happened, but these types of incidents can only help drive interest in the heavyweight division of boxing. Wilder has a mandatory rematch with Bermane Stiverne next, but a Breazeale bout might not be too far behind.
