Wilder and Fury already had a three-fight trilogy where the Bronze Bomber came up short. The Tuscaloosa native got back in the win column by defeating Robert Helenius by first round TKO in October.
Now, in 2023, the fight should finally happen. In many ways, it makes as much sense now as it did when both men were gearing up to fight prior to Wilder's first blockbuster with Tyson Fury.
In any case, the next time Deontay Wilder steps in the ring, he will be hoping to achieve the same result that he did against Helenius. He’ll also hope to attract more pay-per-view fans.
No matter who Wilder squares off against the city of Tuscaloosa will be interested in supporting The Bronze Bomber. The city unveiled a statue to honor the homegrown former heavyweight champion on the River Walk in May.
