West Alabama is being well-represented in the AHSAA State Basketball Tournament, with three teams vying for state championships over the course of the next few days.

At 4:00 PM on March 3, the Linden Lady Patriots will take on the Spring Garden Panthers to decide the 1A girls championship. The Patriots come into this match-up with a 17-6 record, including wins over Demopolis and Thomasville, who are both 5A and 4A teams, respectively. The path to the championship game has included four straight wins over Georgiana, McIntosh, J.F. Shields, and Decatur Heritage, averaging 55.75 points/game.

On Friday evening at 4:00 PM, the Sipsey Valley Bears will do battle with the Deshler Tigers for the 4A girls state championship. The Bears enter the championship game with a 25-3 record, coming off state tournament wins over West Alabama rival West Blocton, Booker T. Washington, Montevallo, and Locust Fort. With a win over the Tigers, Sipsey Valley will win their first state championship in school history.

The Central-Tuscaloosa Lady Falcons will play the Wenonah Dragons for all the marbles in 5A on Saturday morning bright and early at 9:00 AM. The Falcons, led by head coach Michael Rivers, have been one of the top teams in 5A all season, going 22-4 and looking to cap off a great season with a state championship. However, Wenonah have put together the rare 30-win season, looking to end their campaign with an overall record of 31-1.
