Alabama Among Top Choices for 2027 4-Star WR
The Crimson Tide has ramped up its recruiting efforts for the 2027 class, with yet another prospect placing Alabama in his top ten teams on Friday.

On Friday, class of 2027 four-star wide receiver Ja’Hyde Brown released his top ten schools on his X (formerly Twitter) profile. His list included Alabama, Louisville, Indiana, Oregon State, Maryland, Auburn, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Oklahoma State, and Vanderbilt.
According to 247 Sports Composite rankings, Brown is the No.48 wide receiver, No.7 player in the state of Kentucky, and the No.357th overall prospect in the 2027 class.
Brown is a 5-foot-10, 172-pound wide receiver who had a terrific junior season at Christian Academy of Louisville. He won Class 3A player of the year as he finished the season catching a state-best 98 catches for 1,556 yards and 24 TDs. These numbers helped Christian Academy to a perfect 15-0 season. Brown made six catches for 180 yards and two touchdowns in the state championship against Murray, helping the program to its fourth straight state championship, according to 247 Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins’ report.
“Dynamic offensive weapon that has proven to be a chunk-play machine as he creates after the catch with his vision, burst, and agility.” Ivins wrote, “Dangerous in the quick passing game as he can turn swing and screen passes into long gains with sudden movements. Should be viewed as a potential game-wrecker at the Power Four level that offensive coordinators are going to want to find different ways to get involved.”
Alabama’s head coach, Kalen DeBoer, and his staff offered Brown on June 21st of this year. Since then, the four-star wide receiver has visited campus two times for unofficial visits. His first visit was on October 4th, when the Tide beat Vanderbilt 30-14 at Bryant-Denny Stadium. His most recent visit was last month, on November 8th, when Alabama defeated LSU 20-9, according to 247Sports.
So far in his recruitment, the three teams he has visited most are Alabama, Kentucky, and Indiana. On3 predicts the Wildcats have the best shot at landing the top-ten instate prospect, giving Kentucky a 38% chance and Alabama a 17.5% chance of signing Brown.
Oregon State is a team to watch in Brown’s recruitment after extending him an offer on Thursday. They made his top ten partly because Alabama’s Co-Offensive Coordinator and current wide receiver coach, JaMarcus Shephard, was hired as the Beavers' next head coach on November 28. Since then, Shephard has gained Brown's interest, having built a relationship with him over the past several months while recruiting him to Alabama.
Time will tell where Brown ends up, but one thing is certain: he would be a massive addition to the Crimson Tide’s 2027 class. The class currently ranks 11th in the nation and fourth in the SEC with four commits, including four-star quarterback Trent Seaborn from Thompson, according to 247 Sports.
