On Wednesday the Alabama Crimson Tide added another big-time recruiting name as the running back from Garland, Texas Camar Wheaton officially signed his letter of intent to play for the University of Alabama.

Rumors ran rampant after initially committing to Alabama in December that Oklahoma would attempt to flip Wheaton to sign with the Sooners. This would be simply rumor and innuendo as Wheaton officially put his name on the dotted line in a press conference Wednesday.

Wheaton is a 5-star prospect and the No. 5 ranked player in the state of Texas. He won the Texas District 10-6A MVP last season as a junior in high school. He becomes the Crimson Tide's seventh overall 5-star in the class.

Wheaton finished his high school career with over 3000 yards rushing and nearly 50 touchdowns. The impressive north and south rushing attack is a small part of the potential of the No. 2 rated running back in this class.

While Alabama will have some questions at the position, it may be a team effort with multiple running backs for head coach Nick Saban and new offensive coordinator Bill O’ Brien. Brian Robinson Jr., Roydell Williams, Jace McClellan and Trey Sanders (who is recovering from a car accident) will join Wheaton and continue the dominance of the run game left by Najee Harris.
