The Alabama softball team defeated Middle Tennessee State 1-0 in Game 7 on Sunday afternoon to advance to the Super Regionals.

"It was back-and-forth, back-and-forth, and I've said this before, you guys were in here the other day, good starting pitching, great team defense, they gotta come up with a key hit. And this one did, in the second game." said Alabama softball head coach Patrick Murphy.

Jaala Torrence started in the circle for the Crimson Tide. She pitched a full game shutout, recording five hits, one run, and eight strikeouts.

"I was telling myself 'I'm gonna do this for my team, our seniors' and each time I went out there, I kept saying it, so it just kept me in a focused head space," said Torrence.

Alabama catcher Ally Shipman scored the only run of the game from either team, a solo home run on the first pitch of her at-bat in the top of the seventh inning.

Middle Tennessee State pitcher Kamryn Carcich pitched a full game, recording five hits, one earned run, two walks, and no strikeouts.

"Pressure is a privilege, like we always say," said Shipman. "And I knew that this could've been my last game and so I really just wanted to give it everything I had and I know that everybody else on the team felt that, they all knew that. And the return is we knew what it felt like from last year and we knew what we needed to do to not have that repeat this year."

Alabama will host Super Regionals May 26-28, 2023.
