On Wednesday night, Sam Christiansen announced via his X profile that the talented outfielder and first baseman will be joining Rob Vaugn's squad, where he has two years of eligibility remaining.

Christiansen is without a doubt the Tide’s biggest pick up from the transfer portal with the Outfielder having a impressive redshirt sophomore season in Norman where he appeared in 55 total games for Oklahoma which he started 51 of those games which saw Christiansen maintain a .263 batting average while driving in 31 RBIs, six home runs, and coming away with nine doubles while being walked 36 times during the 2025 season.

In the Sooners' series loss over Alabama this season in March, the Tide’s newest addition to the transfer portal had a solid series. Christiansen came away 5-12 at the plate while knocking one home run in the Sooners' 6-5 victory over the Tide in Game 2 of the series.

The 6-foot-1, 212-pound lefty from Mesa, Arizona, started his career at South Mountain Community College in Phoenix, Arizona. In the 2023 season, he appeared in 57 games while batting .307 with 47 runs, 35 RBIs, and 32 stolen bases. Christiansen hasn’t been able to find the same success when it comes to stealing bases, only coming away with eight steals with the Sooners last season.

Christiansen will add to a talented outfield which already features guys like right fielder Bryce Fowler who is expected to return next season, Richie Bonomolo Jr. who's status is currently unknown with the Tide’s starting center fielder for last season still having two years of eligibility left, and the addition of first team All-Horizon Honoree Logen Devenport who led the Horizon League with a .423 batting average while only committing one error last season in the outfield. However, the Tide is losing a crucial piece to its team in Kade Snell, the Team Captain for the 2025 season. However, Christiansen could also move to the infield with the departure of Senior first baseman Will Hodo, with Christiansen playing some first base last season for the Sooners.

Vaughn and his staff have done an impressive job addressing needs this offseason in the transfer portal. Since the season ended on May 31 in the Hattiesburg regional, the Tide has landed seven commits. The full list of commitments is listed below.
