Alabama will be on the search for a new women's basketball head coach, with head coach Kristy Curry leaving Alabama after 12 seasons in Tuscaloosa and taking the open head coaching position with the USF Bulls, according to reports by Talia Goodman of On3.

Curry was linked to the job opening at Northwestern in a now-deleted post on X by Mitchell Northam of USA Today on March 12. On Friday, ahead of the Crimson Tide's round of 64 victory over the Rhode Island Rams, Kristy Curry joined Gary Harris on Tide 100.9, where she addressed the rumors.

"I don't even go on social media. I haven't heard from another school," Curry said on Tide 100.9. "Especially the one, I think, that's been floating around a while, so I just would never believe everything I read on Twitter, and honest to goodness, I don't even run my Twitter account. Sydney Cottrell helps me run it. I'm focused on recruiting and X's and O's every day.

"I think when you do a good job, your name's always gonna be mentioned. I think Tammi Reiss (Rhode Island's women's basketball head coach) is mentioned in a lot of jobs right now, so it's just part of it. It's that time of year, but I love Alabama and love what we've built here."

Curry won the Kay Yow Heart Coach of the Year Award in 2014 and has led Alabama women's basketball to a 245-173 overall record as a head coach. Curry has led the Crimson Tide to five NCAA Women's Tournament appearances and has made the second round of the women's NCAA tournament consecutively for the last three seasons.

Alabama Director of Athletics Greg Byrne released a statement shortly after it was announced Curry was leaving Alabama.

"Coach Curry did a commendable job with our women's basketball team over the last 13 years, leading the program back to the NCAA tournament and winning 20-plus games in each of the last five seasons," Byrne said in his statement. "We appreciate her contributions and wish her and her family well moving forward. As we begin a national search for our next head coach, Alabama Athletics remains committed to the continued growth and investment in women's basketball."
