Alabama Football’s Hale Hentges Named to John Mackey Award Watch List
Alabama football’s Hale Hentges has been named to the 2018 John Mackey Watch List announced today by the Friends of John Mackey.
The Jefferson City, Mo., native is among 64 candidates from around the country named to the preseason list.
A proficient blocker with good catching ability, Hentges is a veteran presence in the Crimson Tide offense entering the 2018 season. He has played a key role in helping the Tide running game rank as one of the tops in the nation during his career. Hentges caught seven passes for 75 yards and three touchdowns as a junior a season ago.
The Mackey Award has been presented annually since 2000 by the Friends of John Mackey to recognize the top tight end in college football. The award is named in honor of former NFL Hall of Fame tight end John Mackey. The 2018 winner will be announced at the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show in December.
