Alabama freshman Kenleigh Cahalan enrolled early to play this season for the Alabama Crimson Tide softball team. This weekend in the Easton Bama Bash, the No. 1 player in the class of 2023 was a consistent contributor on offense as the team nearly ended the weekend with a sweep.

Cahalan went a combined 4-of-6 with two walks and three runs scored in Friday's games, doing her job for the team from the leadoff spot and extending her hitting streak to 11 games in the process. The Tide swept the doubleheader, beating Kennesaw State by a score of 9-2 and beating SE Louisiana by a score of 6-2.

In Saturday's doubleheader, the entire Tide offense exploded scoring 25 runs across two games, winning both by run-rules. Cahalan extended her hitting streak to 13 games with her second inside-the-park home run of the season, and broke four-time All-American Haylie McCleney's record for the longest hitting streak to start a career. She went a combined 3-of-4 with a walk, four runs scored and four RBIs on the day.

The Tide may have lost it's final game to Kennesaw State by a score of 5-3, but Cahalan was still able to extend her hitting streak to 14 games when she doubled to left center in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The consistent production from Cahalan in the early stages of the season is something that head coach Patrick Murphy said he is really excited about as the Tide looks to go the distance and win it all this season, with Cahalan playing a major role.
