TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The Crimson Tide took care of business Sunday afternoon, defeating the UTSA Roadrunners 97-55 in dominant fashion.

The Crimson Tide came out of the gate sluggish, scoring only five points on a Labaron Philon three and an Amari Allen transition layup; however, the defense held UTSA scoreless heading into the under-16 media timeout, giving the Crimson Tide a slim 5-0 lead.

From then, the floodgates opened. The Crimson Tide outscored UTSA 51-17 throughout the rest of the first half to take a resounding 56-17 lead in the locker room at halftime.

Jalil Bethea led the way for Alabama in the first half with 16 points on 55% from the field in only nine minutes. Philon and Latrell Wrightsell trailed behind with ten apiece.

The Crimson Tide did not turn the ball over in the first half.

 

With the game comfortably in hand for Alabama, the Tide took the foot off the gas in the second half, going 35% from the field and 19% from behind the arc, only putting up 41 points compared to the first half's 56.

London Jemison led the Crimson Tide in the scoring column in the second half with 14 on 5/9 shooting from the field, recording 20 points in total Sunday afternoon, marking the 4th-straight game of double-digit scoring for Jemison.

Freshman Amari Allen also had a strong day for the Crimson Tide, dropping his second consecutive double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The Crimson Tide returns to action next Saturday in Birmingham against No. 2 Arizona.
