Alabama, now 26-11 on the season and 8-7 in conference play, entered last week ranked No. 8 in the country after three consecutive conference series wins over Florida, Auburn, and Oklahoma. Unfortunately for the Tide, their winning streak ended this past weekend when they hosted Arkansas at Sewell-Thomas Stadium, where the Razorbacks completed a series sweep.

The Crimson Tide lost all three games this weekend, despite leading or being tied going into the seventh inning of each contest. In games one and two, Alabama gave up a combined 17 runs in the final three innings, dropping game one 7-5 and game two 15-6.

In game three, the Tide held a 2-1 lead entering the top of the seventh, thanks to an impressive outing from freshman pitcher Myles Upchurch, who scattered four hits, allowed two runs, and struck out six before being pulled. However, the Razorbacks scored one run in both the seventh and eighth innings to take a 3-2 lead, which held as the final score.

Alabama finished the week 1-3, with their only win coming in a dominant midweek performance over Samford. The Tide defeated Samford 16-2 via a mercy rule, ending the game in the seventh inning. Two Alabama freshmen had standout games: designated hitter Eric Hines went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, three runs, and a home run, while outfielder Chase Kroberger went 1-for-2 with two RBIs, two runs, two walks, and a home run.

Alabama finished as the fourth-highest ranked team in the conference according to the latest D1Baseball Top-25 rankings, with Texas at No. 4, Georgia at No. 5, and Texas A&M at No. 10. The SEC currently has ten teams listed in D1Baseball’s Top 25, with the full list below.
