Alabama Softball Lands Utility Player Out of Transfer Portal

The Alabama softball team picked up a utility player out of the transfer portal on Friday. Emma Broadfoot, an upcoming junior, will be joining Team 27 from North Alabama.

In a Facebook post written by her mother, Camille Broadfoot confirmed that her daughter will be calling the Rhoads House home this school year.

"Dreams do come true," said Broadfoot. "It's official, Emma will be attending the University of Alabama in the fall as a member of the softball team. This has been her dream since she was little to wear Crimson and White and with her hard work and dedication, she has earned it."

The Danville, Ala., native had a stellar sophomore season, starting 60 games, seeing 178 at-bats, 69 hits, 61 runs batted in, ten home runs, drew 31 walks, and has a .388 batting average.

The North Alabama Lions finished its season 40-20, 15-9 in conference play, losing in round two of the ASUN conference tournament, and ended its season in the quarterfinals of the National Invitational Softball Championship with double-elimination losses to Baylor and the University of Las Vegas. Broadfoot made the NISC All-Tournament team.

The Alabama softball program has had huge grabs out of the transfer portal recently, including catcher Ally Shipman, who transferred to the Capstone from Tennessee, and Ashley Prange, a transfer out of Ohio State. Both were big assets to the success of Team 26.

Broadfoot is familiar with the Tide's style of play as she took the field in the Alabama vs. North Alabama game on April 19, 2022. She did not pick up a hit but drew two walks in the Tide's 6-1 victory over the Lions.
