On an overcast, cool Saturday morning, Team 27 won its first game of its Saturday doubleheader against the Indiana State Sycamores 14-4. The team captured two wins in its Friday doubleheader against Kennesaw State and Southeastern Louisiana.

Redshirt sophomore, Alex Salter took the mound to start for the Crimson Tide. The Sycamores scored two quick runs after fielding errors by the Tide. Alabama's first at-bat saw freshman Kenleigh Cahalan hit by a pitch and an out for Ashley Prange. Ally Shipman, after several balls and a foul, sent a pitch deep over the left-field fence for a two-run homer. Faith Hensley found herself in a similar situation after Bailey Dowling is walked to first. In the game celebrating her senior season, Hensley proceeded to hit a two-run homer just off the tip of centerfielder Olivia Patton's glove. The Tide wasted no time and ends the first inning with the  4-2 lead.

The Sycamores, again, were able to grab a quick run off of two errors at first base. Alabama responded quickly, loading the bases and scoring one run from a walk, 5-3. At the start of the third inning, Indiana State first baseman Isabella Henning hit the first home run of the game for the Sycamores. This led to head coach Patrick Murphy making his first change at pitcher, bringing in junior Jaala Torrence to replace Salter. Torrence was able to clean up the remaining of the inning.

Kenleigh Cahalan contiuned her hot streak within the batter's box as she hit her second inside-the-park home run of the year which put the Tide up 7-4. At the bottom of the fourth, Team 27 found the bases loaded with junior Kat Grill up to bat. Grill found the gap and brings in two RBIs. The very next batter Kristen White bunted to an unfortunate out at the first base, allowing Marlie Giles to steal home. The Tide went into the fifth inning 10-4.

An Indiana hit into the right-center field called for coach Murphy to make his second change at pitcher, bringing in Lauren Esman. Marlie Giles continued to call game as she hit a three-run homer to run rule the Indiana State Sycamores 14-4.

Team 27 will start its second game of the day against the Southeastern Louisiana Lions at around 1:30 p.m. You can listen on 97.5 Me TV.
