Alabama Takes Down MSU in Game Two
TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- Alabama took down Mississippi State in 4-1 in game two, after being run-ruled in the eighth inning in their 13-3 game one loss on Friday, with Saturday's win forcing a rubber match on Sunday with the winner of game three claiming the series.

The first inning started off looking a lot like Friday's first inning, which saw the Bulldogs open the game with a four-spot in the first. Today's game started with a solo home run over left field from Mississippi State's left fielder, Gehrig Frei, to give the Bulldogs the first run of the game. Alabama's starting pitcher, Riley Quick, found his footing with the redshirt sophomore, forcing some groundouts, and finished the inning catching the Bulldogs first baseman, Hunter Hines, looking on a slider for the strikeout.
Quick was automatic after the first inning with the redshirt sophomore setting a new career high of strikeouts in a game with the right-handed pitcher's former career high being six strikeouts, which he recorded in Alabama's game two win against Texas A&M back on March 15th, with Quick finishing today's game with seven strikeouts through five innings while only allowing one run and six hits in his outing on the mound Saturday in Alabama's game two against Mississippi State.
Alabama found some momentum in the bottom of the second on offense with the Tide racking up two runs after a double by Alabama's center fielder Richie Bonomolo Jr which drove home Will Hodo and Coleman Mizell to give the Tide a 2-1 advantage in the bottom of the second.
Neither team did much on offense until the seventh inning when Alabama added two runs making their advantage 4-1.
The Crimson Tide's right-hand pitcher, Hagan Banks, checked into the seventh inning to relieve Austin Morris, who got the Tide out of a tough spot in the top of the sixth inning, which saw Mississippi State in scoring position with runners on first and third with only one out. But thanks to a beautifully executed double play by none other than the Tide's star shortstop, Justin Lebron, to get the Tide out of the sixth inning, holding onto their 2-1 lead.
Banks came in and got right to work in the top of the seventh inning with the righty getting through the inning without allowing a hit, and keeping the Tide's 2-1 lead going into the bottom half of the seventh.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Alabama's catcher Brady Neal got the inning started with a bomb to left field. Following Neal's double, Tide's freshman second baseman Jon Young Jr. hit a successful bunt to advance Neal to third base and allow Young to make it to first safely. Following this, Richie Bonomolo Jr. picked up the third RBI of the day with a sac fly out to left center field to give the Tide a 3-1 lead. Shortly after this, Crimson Tide third baseman Jason Torres knocked to left field to drive home Young Jr. for his first run of Young's college career and Alabama's second run of the inning, extending the Tide's lead to 4-1 heading into the eighth.
Banks continued to hold the Bulldogs scoreless in the top of the eighth inning, with the pitcher getting some help from his shortstop when LeBron executed a terrific double play to end the inning.
Alabama's closing pitcher, Carson Ozmer, checked into the top of the ninth inning and did what he knows best: to get the win. The senior pitcher did exactly that, giving the Tide their 28th win of the season and tying their three-game series at 1-1 against Mississippi State.
