The first quarter was a tightly contested battle with the two teams feeling each other out. Brittany Davis opened up the scoring with a nice layup but every time the Crimson Tide scored Kentucky answered back. The score was 20-15 Wildcats, to start the second quarter after their defense held Alabama scoreless for the last five minutes of the first quarter.

The second quarter was the same thing. Early on the Wildcats made three straight layups and were up 26-15 before Alabama head coach Kristy Curry called a timeout. After a rest, Alabama climbed back into the game by taking a page out of Nate Oats's book. The 3's started going down as Hannah Barber hit three triples and Karly Weathers hit two from beyond the ark.

"We always tell our player to never pass up on an open shot and always be ready to catch and shoot," said Coach Curry. "Just keep shooting the ball".

The team took this to heart and came out halftime ready to shoot. The Crimson Tide shot 13-28 from beyond the ark (13-28) and started to pull away from the Wildcats. By the start of the fourth quarter, Alabama was up by 15 points, which was the largest lead of the night for either team.

The final score was 72-65 and this win was a team effort by everyone. Four players for the Crimson Tide scored in the double digits. Davis led the way with 22 points, 11 points, and four assists. Aaliyah Nye was the sharpshooter of the night by going 4-7 from the 3-point line. Barber included 10 points by going 3-6 from beyond the ark. Finally, Weathers scored 10 points by going 3-5 from the field.

Alabama with this win against Kentucky grabbed their 18th win on the season and seventh win in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). For their next game, the Crimson Tide will be returning to Coleman Coliseum to face the archrival Auburn Tigers at 4:00 p.m. CST on Feburary 12th.
