Alabama v. Texas Officially Sold Out
The Crimson Tide's Week 2 matchup with future SEC foe Texas has officially sold out, per a tweet from the Longhorns' official account.
Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium will be filled to the brim with just over 100,000 fans for a kickoff underneath the scorching sun between two historic programs.
Texas, led by former Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian, was nothing short of disappointing in 2021. The Longhorns finished with an abysmal 5-7 record, dropping games to four unranked teams, including the lowly Kansas Jayhawks.
It was the first time since 2016 Texas failed to reach .500, and while it was just Sarkisian's second year, his firing could be imminent with another disastrous season.
Looking at this year's team; however, the Longhorns seem to have improved at many positions. Former five-star quarterback Quinn Ewers is expected by many to takeover as the starter and he will be flanked on offense by the likes of Xavier Worthy, Bijian Robinson and Crimson Tide transfers Agiye Hall and Jahleel Billingsley.
Alabama enters the 2022 season fresh off another national title appearance. While the Tide suffered defeat in that game at the hands of the Georgia Bulldogs, Nick Saban's squad looks to be hungry for revenge this year.
Returning stars Bryce Young and Will Anderson will lead both sides of the ball while newcomers like Jahmyr Gibbs, Eli Ricks and Tyler Harrell will help replace some of the production lost from last year's team.
Alabama and Texas face off on Saturday, September 10 at 11:00 A.M CST as both teams will look to prove themselves to the rest of the college football world.
